First In-Person Meeting of WG Operation

The FTE Working Group Operations convened its first-ever in-person meeting in Warsaw, marking a significant milestone for the group. While members regularly connect in monthly online sessions to keep information flowing, coming together on site enabled richer, more focused discussions and faster progress on shared operational challenges.

The face-to-face format allowed participants to drill down into practical pain points faced by railway undertakings and to develop concrete proposals for improvement. Key topics on the agenda included:

  • Handling Temporary Capacity Restrictions (TCRs) in day-to-day operations and ensuring clear information reaches passengers;
  • Disruption and contingency management, including coordinating bus replacement services and solutions for cross-border incidents;
  • Improving operational transparency and the usability of centralised IT tools.

Attendees reaffirmed that strong European-level cooperation on operational topics is essential, especially for seamless cross-border traffic, and agreed that in-person workshops provide tangible added value by accelerating consensus and enabling hands‑on problem solving.

Many thanks to PKP Intercity for their warm hospitality, and to our Working Group leaders Emil Radomski (PKP Intercity) and Filip Zucker (Metrans) for guiding the discussions and keeping momentum on these important topics.
