FTE is the European platform for Railway Undertakings and other operational stakeholders for Capacity and Traffic Management. It brings together members active in the freight and passenger market – whether considered as incumbent operators or new entrants – to address key sectoral challenges and improve the competitiveness of rail transport.
Although being competitors, FTE members share common problems on the same infrastructure. They also share the desire for transparent, standardised processes and a market-oriented, efficient service provided by Infrastructure Managers.
FTE members meet regularly to discuss important capacity and traffic management issues. Any member has the possibility to bring their own topics for discussion with others. Positions are consolidated and, when needed, further steps are taken towards Infrastructure Managers and other European stakeholders.
Some of the groups and occasions also provide an opportunity for both operative and management staff of FTE members to strengthen their contact network and exchange experiences. FTE also supports the formation of international and national coalitions of Railway Undertakings and Applicants, helping them strengthen their voice towards Infrastructure Managers and other stakeholders to push for positive change.
